A six-day motorised parikrama of the holy Narmada — Omkareshwar, Maheshwar, Mandhata, Bhedaghat marble rocks and Amarkantak source — done in comfort by SUV rather than the traditional 3,300-km walk. Pilgrimage without the penance.
7 days of carefully crafted experiences
Day 1 of 7
Arrive in Indore and drive south-west to Omkareshwar on the island of Mandhata in the Narmada. Evening darshan at the Omkareshwar Jyotirlinga, one of the 12 holiest Shiva shrines in India.
Morning parikrama of Mandhata island, then drive to Maheshwar — Ahilyabai Holkar's 18th-century capital on the Narmada. Evening boat ride on the river past the riverside palaces and temples.
Long drive east through Indore and Bhopal toward Jabalpur, ending at Bhedaghat — the famous marble rocks of the Narmada. Easy evening at the riverside hotel.
Morning boat ride through the white-marble gorge of Bhedaghat — the Narmada flows between 100-foot polished marble cliffs in a 3-km stretch. Afternoon visit to the thunderous Dhuandhar Falls and Chausath Yogini Temple on the cliff above.
Drive east into the Maikal hills to Amarkantak, the source of the Narmada at 1,065 m. Evening at the Narmada Udgam Kund temple where the river emerges from the ground.
Visit Kapildhara waterfall (where sage Kapil meditated) and Dudhdhara cascade — both on the upper Narmada. Optional visit to the Ancient Kalachuri temples nearby before a relaxed return to the hotel.
Final drive back to Jabalpur airport / railway station for your onward journey home, having completed a meaningful parikrama of one of India's holiest rivers.
