The experience
An ascent of Mount Elbrus (5,642m) in the Caucasus — the highest summit in Europe and one of the Seven Summits. A non-technical but seriously high glaciated climb: you acclimatise with rotations up the south side, sleep in the famous barrel-huts, then make a long pre-dawn summit push across the saddle to the West Peak for a sunrise on the roof of Europe.
