Kashmir
An eleven-day journey beyond the postcards — into the remote Gurez Valley along the Line of Control, the alpine meadows of Doodhpathri, and the high mountain pass at Sinthan Top. This is Kashmir for travelers who want silence, scale, and the kind of landscape most visitors never see.

Day 1 of 11

Arrive in Srinagar and transfer to your houseboat on Dal Lake. Settle in with a Kahwa welcome and watch the sun set over the Zabarwan ridge from the wooden veranda.

Drive to Gulmarg for the day and ride the Gondola up to Kongdoori for sweeping views of Nanga Parbat. Walk on the meadows around the famous golf course before returning to Srinagar.

A scenic drive northeast to Sonmarg, the Meadow of Gold. Ride a pony up to Thajiwas Glacier and lunch beside the rushing Sindh river before returning to Srinagar in the evening.

Drive west to Doodhpathri — the Valley of Milk — where rolling silver meadows and meandering streams feel almost cinematic. Return by afternoon for a heritage walk through the Mughal Gardens of Srinagar.

A spectacular but long drive north — climbing the Razdan Pass at over 3,300m and dropping into the secluded Gurez Valley along the Kishanganga river. Check in to a basic but warm guesthouse in Dawar.

Explore the pyramid-shaped Habba Khatoon peak that dominates the valley, walk along the turquoise Kishanganga river, and visit Dard-Shin villages of log-and-stone homes. A day in one of India's least-visited Himalayan valleys.

Retrace the Razdan Pass back to Bandipora and on to Srinagar by evening. The drive offers fresh perspectives — the same peaks lit by very different afternoon light.

Drive south through saffron fields and apple orchards into the Lidder valley. Spend the afternoon walking by the river and warming up with Kashmiri pink-tea Kahwa at a local tea house.

A full day exploring Pahalgam's three signature valleys. Aru's wildflower meadows, Betaab's snow-tipped rim, and the snowfield at Chandanwari that marks the start of the Amarnath Yatra.

Drive up the Sinthan Top road — a high-altitude pass that connects Kashmir to Kishtwar — for snow even in summer and panoramic views into Jammu's Chenab valley. Return to Pahalgam by evening.

Drive back to Srinagar airport with a final pause at a Kashmiri craft showroom for Pashmina and walnut-wood souvenirs. Carry home memories of the offbeat valleys that define the real Kashmir.
