Himachal Pradesh
Eleven days, six hill stations and a sacred finale at the Golden Temple. This grand Himachal circuit threads together Shimla's colonial nostalgia, Manali's adventure, Bir Billing's paragliding skies, Dharamshala's Tibetan soul, Dalhousie's Khajjiar meadows, and the patriotic crescendo at Wagah Border.

Day 1 of 11

Arrive in Chandigarh, India's first planned modern city. Settle into your hotel and use the evening to walk around Sukhna Lake or visit the iconic Rock Garden, depending on arrival time.

A morning drive up into the lower Himalayas brings you to Shimla. Check in, then walk the Ridge and Mall Road as the British-era spires of Christ Church catch the late-afternoon light.

Drive up to Kufri for snow points, an old-style amusement park and pony rides through the Mahasu Peak forest. Return to Shimla in the afternoon for a Jakhu Temple visit and an evening on the Mall.

A scenic drive north along the Sutlej and Beas rivers, through the Kullu valley's apple country. Reach Manali by evening for check-in and a quiet dinner.

Visit the famous Hadimba Devi temple in its deodar grove, then drive to Solang Valley for snow points, paragliding and ATV rides. Return to Manali for an evening on Mall Road.

Drive through the Atal Tunnel — the world's longest highway tunnel above 10,000ft — to the snow country beyond. Conditions and permits permitting, continue to the Rohtang side before returning to Manali.

A scenic drive over the Bhuntar pass to Bir, the paragliding capital of India. Take an optional tandem flight from Billing landing at Bir, then continue on to Dharamshala for the night.

Spend the day in McLeodganj, home to the Tibetan government in exile and the Dalai Lama Temple complex. Walk to Bhagsu Falls in the afternoon and explore the cafés and bookstores of the upper town.

Drive north-west through the Kangra and Chamba valleys to Dalhousie, a quiet British-era hill station founded in 1854. After check-in, walk the colonial promenades of Subhash Chowk and Gandhi Chowk as the evening lights come on along the deodar-lined ridge.

A full sightseeing day around Dalhousie. Drive to Khajjiar — Himachal's Mini Switzerland — for the saucer-shaped meadow ringed by deodar forest, then return via Panchpula water cascades and a quiet visit to Subhash Baoli. Climb to Dainkund Peak for sunset views over the Pir Panjal range.

Drive down to Amritsar for a final flourish — darshan at the gleaming Golden Temple and an evening at the dramatic Wagah Border Beating Retreat ceremony. Drop at Amritsar airport / railway station for your onward journey.
