Day 1 of 7

Arrive in Chandigarh and start the climb up into the lower Himalayas to Shimla, the former summer capital of British India. Check in and walk the famous Mall Road as the lights come on along the Ridge.

A full day exploring Shimla's colonial heritage. Walk the Ridge and Mall Road, visit Christ Church, and take the short hike (or pony ride) up to Jakhu Temple for the giant Hanuman statue and views over the entire Shivalik range.

A long but beautiful drive north along the Beas river, through the apple orchards of the Kullu valley. Stop at Hanogi Mata temple en route and reach Manali by evening to check in and rest.

Explore Manali's spiritual heart — the wood-shingled Hadimba Devi temple set in deodar forest, the Manu temple in Old Manali, and the sulfur hot springs at Vashisht. End the day with a stroll on Mall Road.

A full day in Manali's snow country. Visit Solang Valley for cable car, paragliding and zorbing, then drive on through the engineering marvel of the Atal Tunnel to the snow points beyond — or the Rohtang side, depending on permit availability.

A full day on the road back to Chandigarh, with stops at the Beas confluence and a leisurely lunch in the Kullu valley. Reach Chandigarh by evening for an overnight stay.

After a leisurely breakfast, transfer to Chandigarh airport / railway station for your onward journey home with memories of toy trains, deodar forests, and snow at the Atal Tunnel.
