Arrive in Bhopal and explore the old city — Taj-ul-Masajid (one of India's largest mosques), the chowk bazaars and an evening boat on Upper Lake.
Full day exploring two UNESCO sites — Bhimbetka's 30,000-year-old rock paintings and Sanchi's Mauryan-era Buddhist stupas (3rd century BCE).
Drive south-east into the Satpura hills to Pachmarhi (1,067 m), MP's only hill station. Evening at Bee Falls or the Pandav Caves.
Full day exploring Pachmarhi — sunrise at Dhupgarh (central India's highest peak), the natural Shiva shrine at Jata Shankar, and the Apsara Vihar falls for an afternoon dip.
Long drive east through Satpura forests to Kanha — one of India's premier tiger reserves and the inspiration for Kipling's Jungle Book. Evening briefing for tomorrow's safari.
Pre-dawn jeep safari deep into Kanha's sal forests — tigers, leopards, barasingha (swamp deer) and over 300 bird species. Afternoon drive east to Amarkantak.
Morning at Kapildhara and Dudhdhara waterfalls of the upper Narmada. Afternoon drive west to Bhedaghat near Jabalpur for the marble rocks boat ride and Dhuandhar Falls.
After breakfast, drop at Jabalpur airport / railway station for your onward journey, having traversed central India's richest natural and cultural circuit.
