October to March
Winters (Nov–Feb) are comfortable at 8–22 °C. Summers (Apr–Jun) are extremely hot, above 40 °C. Monsoon (Jul–Sep) is humid with heavy rain.
Dress conservatively when visiting temples — shoulders and knees should be covered.
Hire a local boatman for a sunrise ride — it is the most peaceful way to see the ghats.
Avoid the extreme summer months (May–June); temperatures regularly exceed 45 °C.
Be cautious with street food if you have a sensitive stomach — stick to busy, reputable stalls.
Photography at cremation ghats is strictly prohibited out of respect.
