Enroute Dambulla, stop by and pay a visit to the home of abandoned Sri Lankan Elephants - The Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage and watch the naughty elephants, yet adorable creatures bathe in the river near the orphanage where they engage in mischief, pull each other by their tails, and try to escape the hands of their caretakers in amusing ways. Prepare yourself for a little challenge and conquer the 1200+ steps marked with good paths and stairs to reach the top of the Sigiriya Lion Rock.
